Basic Life Support (CPR)

  • No dates

Mayo Training institute runs a number of Basic Life Support courses aimed at promoting awareness of the early symptoms of heart attacks and providing the candidates with the training to recognise the warning signs of angina, heart attack and cardiac arrest and to be able to perform CPR. CPR or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation refers to a rescue and basic life support technique for someone whose heart and /or breathing has stopped.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a computerised device which will analyse the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and can recognise a shockable rhythm. The computerised system can then advise the operator whether the rhythm should be shocked. If used within minutes of an arrest, the chances of survival are markedly improved. Up to recently in Ireland the AED was only used by Healthcare Professionals, but they are now becoming available in public access areas (airports, factories) and lay people trained in it’s use can increase the victims chances of survival by up to 40%.

All instructors are trained under either PHECC or AHA/IHF guidelines and courses are professionally run and monitored for high standards. As well as our formal courses, we also run several training courses specific to our customer’s needs. If you would like to discuss your requirements and see how we might be able to assist, Please contact us.
